Fire at Tissue Drive, Trincity Industrial Estate

Please be advised that a fire at a plastics factory on Tissue Drive, Trincity Industrial Estate has caused the evacuation of a number of factories in the area. The fire, which is in close proximity to factories, institutions and other agencies and is considered an extreme incident, is receiving the attention of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, who is coordinating the response to this incident. The following actions have been taken:-

• The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service has  evacuated all business and buildings in close proximity to this fire and is attending to the fire;
• The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has cordoned off the area;
• Appliances from the emergency medical services are also site;
• The Disaster Management Unit of the Tunapuna/ Piarco Regional Corporation is also on the scene conducting an initial damage assessment in order to assist with any immediate needs

The ODPM advises citizens to use alternate routes at this time and avoid the Trincity Industrial Estate, adhere to instructions that are being given by the first responder and law enforcement agencies and continue to be vigilant.

Additional advisories will be issued as soon as the information is received.
