Second Meeting of the Multi-Sectoral Committee for National Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Month

Today, Wednesday 27th January 2021 the Cabinet appointed multi-sectoral committee for National Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Month (NDPPM), held its second blended meeting at the ODPM’s Alternate National Emergency Operations Centre (ANEOC) in Mausica. Excitement is building as today’s meeting determined the theme for this year’s celebration: “Disaster Preparedness Starts with You, Lets Prepare Together”. The multi-sectoral committee also reviewed the proposed activities for NDPPM.

Four subcommittees, which will support the work of the multi-sectoral committee, were also confirmed. These subcommittees outline the focus for each week in May:

  1. Individual and Family
  2. Civil Society
  3. Community
  4. Public and Private Sectors, International Bodies and the Southern Sub Regional Focal Point Countries

Within the next few days, the subcommittees will begin meeting in order to continue the discussions and planning of activities to commemorate the month.
