COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. The World Health Organisation (WHO) describes it as belonging to a large family of viruses that can cause illness or death in humans and animals.

The virus enters the nose or eye when an infected hand or item touches the face or when an infected person emits droplets either from sneezing or coughing.

COVID-19 symptoms include the flu along with fever, coughing, sore throat, and in some cases acute diarrhoea.

As Trinidad and Tobago transitions to the community spread phase of COVID-19 infections, it is critical that everyone takes strict and consistent measures to safe guard their health and that of their loved ones.
