OFFICIAL STATEMENT #1  
TROPICAL DEPRESSION # 11 FORMS OVER THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC OCEAN 
 
At 5:00 pm today, Tuesday 11th August 2020, the centre of Tropical Depression Eleven was located near 11.7 N 40.0 W or about 2335 km East of the Lesser Antilles. The depression is moving toward the west at near 26 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue through Wednesday. A west-northwest  motion at a similar forward speed is forecast to begin Wednesday night and continue through the rest of the week.  
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 55 km/h with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a Tropical Storm by Wednesday night. 
 
At present, this system does not pose any direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago or Grenada and its dependencies.  
 
The TTMS will continue monitoring this depression and will issue an update at 12:00 noon tomorrow Wednesday 12th August 2020 or earlier if the situation warrants.
