The National Response to Disasters

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) is the national agency responsible for leading the development and implementation of an integrated approach to disaster management in Trinidad and Tobago, on behalf of the Ministry of National Security. This holistic or Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) approach, enables the ODPM to manage hazards and potential multiple hazards, through all phases of the disaster management cycle (prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery). This whole-of-nation methodology involves the public and private sectors, as well as all segments of civil society and the general populace.
