Igneous and Mud Volcanoes
A volcano is a conical hill or mountain built up by the ejection of material from a vent. "Volcanic" as an adjective refers to all types of extrusive igneous (molten lava and pyroclastic flows)activity. In Trinidad and Tobago there is the need to distinguish between igneous volcanoes (e.g. Soufriere, St. Vincent) and mud volcanoes (eg. Erin and Piparo). While igneous volcanoes form islands from deep within the earth, mud volcanoes are much more surface features.
