Adverse Weather Alert Cancelled

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) cancelled the Adverse Weather Alert on Thursday 2nd August, 2018 at 2:17 p.m.

The TTMS has advised that the most intense activity associated with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) has passed. However, a few lingering showers are expected. Flood waters will gradually subside in areas currently experiencing street/flash flooding.

Citizens are advised to continue to monitor weather conditions and to maintain a state of preparedness.

Citizens impacted by flooding are reminded of the following safety tips:

  1. Protect yourself and family members from contaminants in flood waters. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including rubber boots, rubber gloves, and goggles during clean-up of affected area. Wear rubber-soled, closed-toe shoes (not flip-flops!), long-sleeves, and full-length pants while cleaning your property after a flood;
  2. Wash hands regularly and properly;
  3. Do not walk or drive through flood waters of unknown depth and current;
  4. Do not allow your children to play outside during heavy downpours or in flood waters.

WE WISH TO UNDERSCORE THAT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER ANY TROPICAL STORM OR HURRICANE THREAT, WATCH OR WARNING.
