Trincity, Tacarigua; February 26, 2010 – In February 2010, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) in collaboration with Continuity Management Caribbean Limited conducted two (2) sessions of the DRI International BCLE 2000 Business Continuity Management Course for personnel from the Public Sector agencies. The aim of this course, which was facilitated by Mr. Keith Greaves, was to allow ministries and government agencies to go beyond recovery and focus on the necessary steps to continue the essential government services during and after emergency situations. The secondary aim of this course centred on building the resilience of government infrastructure through the strengthening of its critical agencies.
Some agencies and divisions which have participated in the sessions thus far include the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the Special Anti-Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and ministries such as the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Local Government. This course, which spanned a ten (10) day period in total, was conducted at the HCL Conference Facility, Trincity, Tacarigua.
Additional courses will be conducted for other government agencies, divisions and units in the upcoming months.
